The dramatic weather we received this week brought another 4 inches of rain. Hoorah for rain! I know that anyone who owns on a seepage lake like we do is patiently waiting, waiting, waiting for ground water levels rise and every bit of rainfall helps. Unfortunately, along with it came a record setting low pressure system with some wicked wind that took out trees all over the area. It amazed me at how fast the County crews had the roads cleared. They didn’t waste any time! But for those of us who have trees down on our private property, the clean-up isn’t a part of the daily schedule and has to somehow fit into the routine. I’m not terribly interested in engaging in lumberjack work at this stage of my life. Sakes alive, it was bad enough that we were without power for 11 hours! Luckily, we had a good helper arrive just in time to help her dad take care of business. How fortunate to have a daughter with a soft spot in her heart for her dear old dad. They made an excellent team and I was perfectly happy to contribute by documenting the progress from the sidelines and serving an appropriate beverage as a final reward.
